Welcome to pack meeting Number 4 of the 2012-2013 year. Here is some important information on upcoming activities and other pack happenings:

Next Pack Meeting: The next pack meeting will be held on Monday, January 14th at 6:30 to 7:45 at the School Community room.

o This will be the Pack Olympics Pack Meeting… den participation is mandatory.

§ Each den should plan to do a physical activity as a station. There will be a round robin format with each den rotating through the stations.

§ The Tiger Den is not expected to have a station… they will rotate through the other stations.

· Updates/ Additions to calendar:

o BOWLING (Dec 15): There is a bowling outing scheduled for December 15th at the bowling lanes in East Hampton. It will start at 12:00 and go to 2:00. The cost is $10 per child and it will include bowling and pizza. Parents are allowed to drop off their children for the two hours and return to pick them up.

Deadline for Sign up is Sunday, 12-9-12

o BATTLESHIP COVE (April 13): The Pack has decided that we would go to Battleship Cove this year. I made a reservation for April 13th. The cost is $55 per person ($110 per parent/ son).

Sign-Up at www.Pack39.com. (<--- LEFT HAND COLUMN) Once signed up to attend the family will be responsible for the fee of $110.00

Deadline for Sign-up is Saturday, 12-8-12

o FUN, FIT & FREE SLEEP-OVER! (Jan 12): There will be another sleep-over opportunity for the Pack. On January 12th to the 13th we have been invited to attend a sleepover in my Work-out (Fitness) gym in Glastonbury (182 Oakwood Drive) (at the Keeney Trucking Parking lot)). This will be an opportunity for the scouts to try their best at some physical tasks that we will set up. The cost for this event is Free!!! We will meet at the gym, in Glastonbury, on Saturday night at 5:00 and we will have to be packed up and out of the gym on Sunday morning by 8:00.

Each scout participant must be accompanied by an adult.

You will need: Something to sleep on (mat/ cot/ mattress), A sleeping bag, Flashlight, PJ’s, Toothbrush, Pillow

Dinner should be brought with you (subway/ McDonalds/ Home made)… the pack will Provide Dunkin Donuts for breakfast.

· Popcorn Results… thanks to all the adults and scouts that came out on Saturday to help pick-up and sort the popcorn… lots of hands made light work for all… including me… thank you very much

o The pack sold in excess of $8,000.00 and we are able to put 33% of that into our account and another 33% goes to help run the council.

o We had 6 scouts sell between $200 and $300

o We had 5 scouts sell between $300 and $400

o The 4th place scout (Cameron M.) sold $491

o The 3rd place Scout (Joey M.) sold $853

o The 2nd place scout sold $1104 (Zachary C.)

o And the #1 selling scout sold $1564 and was Brandon N.

· November 28th was our first ever “Den Meeting Night”. It seemed to be a huge success… I was able to visit with each den as they had their meeting and it gave the dens a chance to catch up or to use the other leaders as a resource. We plan to hold two more of these… one in February and one in April.

o The Den meeting night scheduled for January 9th will be cancelled due to the sleepover and pack meeting just after that night.

· Volunteers needed – The following positions are open and volunteers are needed to fill them. Please consider helping the pack to provide your son with a valuable Scout Program. I would be happy to discuss any of these positions/ jobs with you. (see additional sign-up sheet to be circulated)

o Assistant Pack Leader

o Popcorn Kernel to take over this year – Speak to John Arruda for position details

o Summer Camp/ Camping Chair – must attend summer camp with boys and be willing to plan additional Pack/ Family camping trip

o Parents to run events for next year (Committee Members)

§ Pack sleep over… make reservations; collect money; give pack updates and ask for participants

§ Blue and Gold Banquet

§ Pine Wood derby

§ Awards Chair to work with Nancy Gianetti this year

§ Pack Treasurer - Needed immediately
